Hannaford and Their Products
My favorite grocery store is Hannaford.
The first thing that I see when I walk into the grocery store is a bunch of name brand items that appear to be on some sort of promotion or sale.
I believe that Hannaford’s is the best player in the market
basket analysis because the way that they have their items set up even when you
first walk into the store is that they advertise their name brand items. The
way that the store shelves are set up also shows what they are trying to sell.
They have the more expensive items at eye level so that they are easier to see.
They then put the less expensive items on the top or bottom of the shelves so
that they are harder to see where they can then sell the better product. The
way that they group products also says a lot about what they are trying to sell
to you. They will group together the products that are all name brand or the
more expensive name brand near each other so that people can use what they see
as a general thought as to what they should buy. Hannaford also groups their
name brand products together that might go good together. Just as in the
picture taken from Professor’s picture, they grouped items that work or usually
go together like paper towel and cleaning soap. An example that I saw was whipped
cream near pie filling and limes near the coronas.

After spending about one hour in the stop shopping and
looking for these things, I found that they really do set up the whole store
very strategically. These simple things really stood out to me as I walked
through my local Hannaford looking for what ways and tactics that they use to
market certain products more than others.
